Dr. Smith received her early education from Queens College here in Nassau then went onto Dalhousie University Halifax Nova Scotia Canada. She received her bachelor’s a Science in Biology in 1997.
Dr. Smith began her medical career in 2005 after completing Medical School at St. Christopher’s College of Medicine. She Joined the Princess Margaret Hospital as an intern in 2005 then became a Senior House Officer in the Department of Internal Medicine for four years.
Dr. Smith then joined the Family Medicine Residency Program in 2010 at the University of the West Indes School of Clinical Medicine and Research and Completed her Doctorate of Medicine for Family Medicine in 2014.
Dr. Smith was assigned to Bimini in 2015 as the District Medical officer for the Island until returning to Nassau in 2019 after which she joined the Doctors Hospital Health System, Prime Care team from 2019-2022.
She Presently serves as a Consultant Physician with the department of Family Medicine at Princess Margaret Hospital since 2017 and is the lead physician for Home Visitations at the Fleming St. Clinic.
Dr. Smith is also the Clinical Director for Paradise Healthcare Services which has locations in the Atlantis Hotel and Nassau St at Turnquest House.
She is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians since 2010.
Her focus is Primary care and preventative care medicine as she wants to teach patients preventative health care is key for a life well lived.
